Hikes – Mont Rochelle Nature Reserve – Uitkyk Trail
Experience Franschhoek offer guided hiking adventures in the Franschhoek Mountains in the Mont Rochelle Nature Reserve, the Berg River Conservation Area and at La Motte.
The Uitkyk Trail is in the Mont Rochelle Nature Reserve and is a moderate 2-3 hour hike of about 6kms.
The distance from the main gate to the vantage point at the terminus of the Uitkyk Trail is about 3km from where you double back to the main gate.
The trail is fairly straight and also only rises about 360 metres in total.
The trail crosses a stream about 845 metres beyond Breakfast Rock; this is a wonderful place to stop – the water is safe to drink and very refreshing.
The Uitkyk viewpoint boasts a spectacular view of the secluded Wemmershoek valley and Wemmershoek Dam.
Hikers have the opportunity to learn about the History of the town as well as interesting information on the indigenous Fauna and Flora of the Fynbos Biome.

Return transport from Franschhoek Main Road is included.
